Eyes-Shocked! Washington Sees Closure of Prominent Coffee Chain Location

WFCN –

Loyal customers of a well-known coffee business have started a petition in response to the announcement that a large shop in Washington state will be closing this summer.

A large Starbucks in the Alki area of western Seattle, Washington, was set to close its doors earlier this month, according to the company’s announcement.

In an interview with West Seattle Blog, Starbucks officials confirmed that their location at 2742 Alki Avenue will be closing on Sunday, August 11.

The-Sun states that all present employees working at the store will be offered transfer chances to nearby sites.

According to West Seattle Blog, this particular establishment has been operating in the area since 1999. With this closure, there will only be five other establishments remaining operational in the area.

The store’s impending closure has locals in a frenzy, with hundreds signing a petition urging the business to remain open.

Four key reasons why people want the business to remain are outlined in the petition titled “Save Our Alki Beach Starbucks!”

  • Assisting the neighborhood
  • Strengthening the regional economy
  • Ideally situated
  • Repercussions for workers

The petition expresses the belief that the Alki Beach Starbucks serves as more than just a coffee shop; it serves as a hub for our community.

The gathering place is perfect for neighbors to get to know one another, families to spend time together, and friends to catch up.

It goes on to say, “The Alki Starbucks considerably boosts the local economy by attracting visitors and supporting nearby businesses.”

“Many will feel its absence upon its closure, particularly those who work remotely and utilize it as a meeting place to escape their home offices.”

Additionally, the petition states that Starbucks is reducing Alki’s walkability and disrupting retail employees by closing the store.

“While we acknowledge the importance of Starbucks’ store portfolio-wide strategic decisions, we firmly believe that the Alki Beach location plays a crucial role in our community,” the statement stated.

It is our sincere hope that Starbucks will reevaluate their plans for closure and look at potential alternatives, such as refurbishment or a new location in the Alki Beach region.

“Let’s make it clear that our community values this location.”
