Senator JD Vance of Ohio, a former opponent turned devoted ally, is now chosen by Trump as his running partner in the GOP.
At a moment when many are deeply concerned about the elderly age of America’s political leaders, JD Vance is the first millennial to join a major-party ticket.
At the start of the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Trump posted on his Truth Social network, saying, “After lengthy deliberation and thought, and considering the tremendous talents of many others, I have decided that the person best suited to assume the position of Vice President of the United States is Senator J.D. Vance of the Great State of Ohio.”
Following the release of his memoir “Hillbilly Elegy” in 2016, 39-year-old Vance became well-known across the country.
He was chosen to serve in the Senate in 2022 and, according to WFMZ, has emerged as one of the most ardent supporters of the former president’s “Make America Great Again” platform, especially with regard to trade, foreign affairs, and immigration.

However, he has not yet gained much experience in national politics and is joining the Trump ticket at a unique time.
The attempt on Trump’s life during a rally on Saturday has rocked the campaign, drawing fresh attention to the divisive political discourse in the country and highlighting the significance of individuals who are only a heartbeat away from being president.
After the shooting, Vance came under fire for a post he made on X suggesting that President Joe Biden was to blame for the bloodshed.
According to Vance, “the fundamental tenet of the Biden campaign is that President Donald Trump is an authoritarian fascist who needs to be stopped at all costs.”
“The president Trump assassination attempt was directly caused by that rhetoric.”
The reason behind the shooting has not yet been revealed by law officials.
