When local police officers responded to a theft allegation yesterday afternoon, what started out as a typical shopping day at the Great Mall in Milpitas became a foot pursuit.
At 4:41 PM, police were called in reference to a theft incident involving an Auburn suspect who was 42 years old.
The suspect tried to flee the scene, but the Milpitas Police Department said that police caught him shortly after, foiling his attempt to avoid arrest.
The man was eventually apprehended despite his best attempts to hide his identity, and things quickly became worse for him when the police realized he wasn’t the only one involved in the theft. He was arrested not just for the stealing allegation but also for trying to flee while carrying a $100,000 felony warrant around his neck.

In addition, he had disregarded the conditions of his Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS). This suspect’s collapse took place against the backdrop of the mall, which is frequented by families and bargain seekers.

A list of the offenses that led to the suspect’s arrest was included in the charges that landed him in jail. According to a statement released by the Milpitas Police Department, “He was arrested and booked into jail for theft, resisting arrest, providing false identification to a police officer, and his warrant”.
