The most expensive item on the market in the Rocky Mountain hamlet of Telluride, Colorado, is a 7,187-square-foot duplex located in the center of the town that went up for $33 million last week.
According to the Multiple Listing Service, the four-bedroom, seven-bathroom house is listed for more than twice as much as the next most expensive property in the area.
The top two stories of the Pederson Building, a repurposed commercial building close to the eateries, retail establishments, and ski lifts of Telluride’s main strip, are occupied by the home.

In the listing, Lars Carlson of LIV Sotheby’s International Realty referred to the “reimagined” building as a “masterful work of art.” It comes fully equipped with features like specialized lighting, sound-absorbing large windows, and an oxygen pumping system for each bedroom.

According to selling images, the completely furnished open floor layout has a wet bar, gas fireplace, and retractable doors that open to a roughly 2,500-square-foot roof terrace with views of the mountains. A short set of steps leads to the chef’s kitchen and eating room, which opens to the patio for al fresco dining.

The description states that the main bedroom suite has a sitting area, a private terrace with a hot tub, a dressing room with laundry facilities, and a fireplace with a marble surround. A 1,115-square-foot office with a ski room, exercise center, sauna, and spa is located in a separate section beneath the house, along with a sleeping room.
Telluride, a historic boom town established during the gold rush of the 1800s, is currently experiencing a different kind of boom because to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic-related migration. Families are moving to the ski town in droves, wanting more room and to be closer to nature.
According to a first quarter study from LIV Sotheby’s, this is what drove the average price of a single-family house to soar by more than 50%, from $3.34 million to $5.02 million, year over year in the first quarter of 2021.
