According to IMPD, the girl was struck by a Jeep driver who was driving eastward and failed to notice the stop arm.
The girl had lower extremities injuries and probably some internal bleeding when she was brought to Riley Hospital for Children. Her condition was severe but stable.
Officers were questioning witnesses and searching surrounding businesses for security footage. The bus’s occupants were transferred to another bus and brought to school.
Handcuffed, the driver was observed at the site. She was taken for a blood draw, as is customary in major collisions, according to IMPD, and then released while more investigation was conducted.
