Local law enforcement officers launched a homicide investigation after a 33-year-old woman was discovered dead inside her Upland apartment on New Year’s Eve.
Officers from the Upland Police Department were called to the Rancho Monte Vista Apartment Homes, which are situated in the 2100 block of W. Arrow Route, at approximately 8:20 p.m. on Tuesday to check on the victim’s welfare, according to the police.
“She hadn’t turned up for work, and the family couldn’t reach her. When we arrived on the scene, we were able to observe through a bedroom window that a woman was unconscious on the ground,” Upland Police Sergeant Marci Williams said.
She was pronounced dead at the site after firefighters who had went to the scene failed to revive her.
According to Sergeant Williams, “she had injuries on her body that indicate that there was some kind of altercation,” “We are treating it as a homicide at this time.”
Although they do not think it was random, they are not clear if the woman knew her assailant. The type of damage the victim sustained has not yet been described.
It is recommended that anyone with additional information call Upland police at (909) 982-1331.
