Along with scores of additional women, over 100 women have come forward to report sexual misconduct committed by a former Cedars-Sinai obstetrician/gynecologist.
According to a news release, 107 more women have sued Dr. Barry J. Brock of Beverly Hills, alleging that Brock “exploited and abused them under the guise of medical care at Cedars-Sinai.”
“Women continue to come forward to accuse Dr. Brock of just the most offensive behavior one can imagine from an OBGYN,” stated attorney Mike Arias.
The additional women on the list join more than 60 others who sued Brock last year. The sex abuse legal firms Arias Sanguinetti and The DiPietro legal Firm have already filed three lawsuits against him. There are 167 patients who have filed lawsuits overall.
Attorneys in the latest case identify a number of decades-old sexual offenses. Among the allegations include offensive remarks, physical contact, grooming techniques, and deceptive testing.
Additionally, the lawyers claim that Cedar-Sinai participated in Brock’s improper actions. They claim that despite their patients’ numerous complaints to medical personnel and numerous civil actions, the hospital did not provide them with adequate protection.
“Dr. Barry Brock’s alleged actions run opposite to Cedars-Sinai’s basic principles and the trust that we work hard to gain from our patients every day. In a statement to CBS News Los Angeles, Cedars-Sinai stated, “We have reported this matter to the California Medical Board, and Dr. Brock no longer has privileges to practice medicine at Cedars-Sinai.” “We recognize the legal process must now take its course, and we remain committed to Cedars-Sinai’s sacred healing mission and serving our community.”
According to the DiPietro business, Brock was suspended in August 2024 following several patient complaints. Additionally, he was prohibited from practicing medicine at the facility.
“For many years, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center was aware of Barry Brock’s patient maltreatment and sexual exploitation. However, rather than safeguarding their patients, Cedars simply served to gaslight, lie, and assist in hiding Brock’s wrongdoing, exposing a large number of fresh and unwary patients to a known serial sexual predator, according to lawyer Anthony T. DiPietro.
In a lawsuit filed in October 2024, DiPietro alleged that despite Brock’s hospital suspension, he continued to communicate with his former patients, informing them of his intention to “retire.”
On behalf of survivors of OBGYN George Tyndall’s sexual misconduct, the Arias Sanguinetti business was also instrumental in securing a $852 million settlement against the University of Southern California.
